Orange RockCorps

I have noticed a lot of adverts, either on the television or at the cinema, for Orange Rockcorps. I decided to look it up to find out a little more about what it is. I discovered that 'Orange and RockCorps come together to help you to give something back to your community. 13,000 people have already given their four hours and celebrated together at more than 3 live gigs. All you need to do is join up and give four hours of your time to an Orange RockCorps community project in your area. In return, youʼll get a ticket to one of two exclusive gigs with performances from big name artists. You can’t buy a ticket. You can’t win a ticket. You have to earn a ticket.'

I think this is a really good idea which could take off across the country. Even though some people will only do the work in order to rock their socks of at the gig it still shows a level of commitment which is becoming less common amongst younger people. Completing this volunteer work will also, hopefully, change the attitudes of some of those taking part in the project. It gives young people an opportunity to make a difference locally and I am sure after their hard work they would strive to maintain these changes.

So far these reward gigs have only taken place in England but I think I would take part if this project was held locally. Would you put in your four hours for a gig? Or do you see it as a waste of time?
